'These Dreams Under my Pillow'

Yay! I'm writing a blog post! For the first time since April it would seem...
I planned on getting a tonne of work done today, but spent my morning looking after a poorly kitty and my afternoon cleaning bathrooms... oh and watching the first season of girls. I've also been a bit Mad Men obsessed at the minute. Anyone else a huge Peggy fan??

So what has happened since April?
I turned eighteen! That is right, I am officially an adult. Do I feel like it? Noooo. I didn't really do much on my actual birthday but it was nice to see everyone. I did go on two trips to London and one to Lincoln which were really fun! I finally got to see Wicked which was a-m-a-z-i-n-g, and when I was in Lincoln I got my ear pierced (I thought it was really rebel-ish of me).

For Emma's birthday me her and Megan went to Clumber for the Mamma Mia drive in; that was really good! The car battery died in the field though which was a bit of a disaster.

In the Summer I went on holiday to the Lake District and had to come home early because I got ill. In fact, I went to Wilderness with Emma and Eli too and we had to come home early from that because someone broke our tent...so was not getting much luck on the holiday front!

Wilderness was really good though! We spent a lot of time in the Folk Barn and lots eating too! In fact I loved this lentil soup I had from the soup library, it was so good! I really needed warming up! That morning we had been swimming in the lake and that absolutely froze me. I also discovered I am a terrible swimmer. I bought some cool round sunglasses; I had wanted some for ages! It was actually a really good weekend!

I've started back at college which seems to going okay. I seem to be avoiding doing my work at the minute and need to get back in gear! Maybe that will be tomorrows task........................ xoxo

Poppy's shorts.

(Yeah I know.... most imaginative blog title ever, right)
So, I haven't owned a pair of denim shorts...just normal denim shorts... in like forevz. Which is completely crazy....wardrobe staple, hello?!

So anyway.... do you remember these jeans.....http://theredflowerblog.blogspot.co.uk/2013_02_01_archive.html (I know, they were great....cough...). Well, I wore that them that one time.....and then I don't think they ever made another appearance, so it was either charity shop time or to make them over. And seen as I got sort of bored, I thought I'd make some shorts,

Now, I'm not gonna lie... it's not like I have some new fangled way of making shorts, I don't. They're bog standard jeans to shorts but as it happens its the first time I've done this, so thought I'd share with y'all.

Step 1. Grab some sexy jeans....yeah okay....they could have done with an iron, but I'm about to chop them okay?

Step 2. So, I kinda tried them on, looked in a mirror...decided how short I wanted them...drew a mark like...lower than that cause I was planning on rolling them up. (My English is fabulous today).
Step 3. Then I chopped. It was fun.

 4. At this point I had forgotten to continue taking photos... score. So yeah, I cut them both to the same length, then I just rolled and added a few things here and there (badge, button, safety pin....everyone needs a safety pin).

 5. Oh yeah....and I fixed the patch on the bum that was falling off!

Tadah...see I can do it, so you can. Keep Dreaming peeps xoxo

'I feel it's already too late to live'

Good Friday today. Megan invited me along with her, Amy and Lottie to Clumber today. Amy has recently passed her driving test and got a cool car...I'm ridiculously jealous. I'm learning to drive at the minute and absolutely loving it, it's too fun! So anyway, Amy picked us all up and after a quick pit stop at Morrison's (see we didn't even have to make dinner) we went to Clumber... actually had to queue to get in it was that crazily busy.
I wore my Primani denim dress with my beaten up (literally have holes in) asos ankle boots. Pinched Amy's sunglasses and in this picture I am carrying Megan's bag...top friend. The cardigan's Henry's, still got a strong love for that dude.

Amy brought her dog along... and no I'm not a dog person, but what a cutie. Top bonus that the sun was out! Kinda looking forward to the summer....so. sick. of. winter. clothes. I am also looking forward to getting snapping up some festival clothes for the dreamed of weekend in the country!

'Things get broken.'

In the past few months, I appear to have fallen off of the blogosphere.Oooopsy. But I'm back right?
I decided this weekend that I ought to write a blog post.... and so I opened up the document. What followed for the next few hours was me, clicking back onto the tab every now and then expecting inspiration to come flooding to me. This never happened, and because I am not one to sit here and lie... I still don't have a direction in which this is going. To be honest, this little section here could be as interesting as it gets, which is why I thought I would chuck a song and few photos in here and there (ya know....just so you can avoid the boring rambling of Poppy). I think I have become somewhat of a pro typer at this point... the amount of coursework I have been doing, along with placement,  is sort of ridiculous- I am in belief that I have five deadlines this week alone. But at least the Easter holidays are to follow then right?

I would have liked to have done an outfit post, but my outfits have been somewhat un-inspiring at the minute. I think I am getting bored of wearing Winter clothes... I actually caught myself saying that I couldn't wait for summer to come the other day, just so I can feel a bit more interesting when I walk out of the door. I am currently sick of rolling up my jeans for the day and by the end of the day having to roll them down because my ankles are too cold. I definitely have old people ankles...they just cannot hack the freeze any longer. And to say it is so cold, the snow never came did it? Huge disappointment.... America appeared to get a tonne of it (knowledge I acquired from readings blogs) but why did it not travel across the pond? Life troubles, ey?

It is pretty conclusive at this point that I did not plan this post.... I am talking about the weather for petes sake! One thing I don't think I've ever mentioned on here is my driving.... oh yes, I'm learning to drive. I was dreading it. I literally cannot wait for my driving lesson to come round every week now. I'm trying to convince my parents to insure them on their car so I can take them for a wild spin, but they don't seem to be loving that idea as much as I am- I really don't know why, it's not like my Mum got a new car last month or anything...... -sigh.

I've recently started a new unit at college... sociology. I can't say I'm particularly in agreeance (is that a word?) with any of the theories that have been put forward to me in these few weeks, but perseverance is key.

So, erm, yeah.... I'm a great conversationalist.... look at some pretty photos, yeah? Oh, and listen to Nirvana.... I've been researching Kurt Cobain for my Lifespan development coursework.... I'm in a trance at the minute.

Friends are like family

Last night I was invited to a little get together for my friend, Megan's, 18th birthday. Her Mum had had it arranged for a while now, so it had been in the diary for months and was something I had been looking forward to as there were a few surprises in store. Lottie, Amy and myself had been giving out cards to people to write memories of their time with Megan on them and it has to be said there were some laughs, and some expected moments for her Mum to have a read over as she did her rendition of 'This is your life.' A programme I hadn't been aware of until most of Megan's family told me I was missing out!

After this surprise, we moved along to the slideshow of Megan's life that we had put together, with it finally working thanks to Lottie! This slideshow was a 17 minute show all to music that in some way or another reminded us of Megan, whether it be through her rapping it to us, or grooving out to them at parties!

I had a lovely night and had one of those moments when you realise that your friends really are like your family (soppy- whatever!) and not only that but you feel welcome as an honorary member of their family!
So anyway!!! Happy Birthday Megan! Hope you had a lovely night, have a lovely meal and have a great time at Grease! Love you a million!
Keep Dreaming xoxo
