I'm a Day Rover

My Dad has always loved trains and when I was little I used to be pretty enthusiastic about them too! I even had my own Smokey Joe train set. But, as I got older my interests changed, especially towards writing and fashion. But we still visit trains for my Dad, and so one day we bought a Day Rover ticket and travelled on the steam trains!

My hair wasn't really working for me on this day so I did have to change about four times as it just wasn't settling, but we were in our own compartment, so it's not as if I was overly bothered! It was quite nice to sit down for a day, and have a bit of a nap on the train, but we obviously had to keep ourselves entertained a bit as well by attempting to do some magic tricks. The word attempting is key here!

I also got bored of the tickets as they'd been thrown across the counter by one of my parents and so I decided I'd make a pretty pattern with the punch holes and the lines!

Afterwards, we went on the beach at Minehead (by which point my hair was pulled up into a ponytail) and had a little paddle, but only a little paddle as I soon saw a jelly fish and ran back out! Also, my feet kept sinking into the sand, but it was the least 'rocky' beach around so it was fine for me! xoxo

Tan much?

When I first put this outfit on, I felt a bit too dressy and very nearly got changed again as I couldn't layer it with anything to make it more casual due to the warmth. But, of course I kept it on because I was dieing to wear it! It was my £18 bargain! So I kept it on and didn't change a thing. If you can't dress up on holiday then when can you? And I'll be honest, looking back at the photos I again feel that I looked a bit pregnant in these photos, but I promise you: I am definitely not! It's just the flow of the dress... maybe it's just me looking at it?

I wore this dress to Dunster Castle which is a National Trust property which has recently been passed over, previously having been owned by the Luttrell's. It really was a lovely castle, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading about the Castle's history as sad as that sounds.

Again it was ridiculously warm and so afterwards we went on a little walk around the castle grounds which meant I had to pull up my maxi dress and waddle around! Eventually it brought us to another cemetery, but this time a pet cemetery! So that was the second day that we visited the dead... now I think about it, we did visit a lot of graveyards over the week!

'What are men to rocks and mountains?'

After spending a lifetime with men and a week in the rocks and mountains, I must say that I am somewhat torn. I've met many men throughout my short lifetime each leaving a very different life. Some are ignorant and closed minded, where as others have truly become my best friends, honestly saying that I would trust them with my life and soul if the occasion were to arise.
The rocks and the mountains?
It would be a very obvious fact to say that they're simply magnificent and would leave the most closed minded if men to stare for an hour or so. But what is a little corroded rock to true friendship? I'd much rather have my best friends. And who knows maybe I could drag them down to the rocks and mountains once in a while. After all they are very open minded! xoxo

Buns and ice creams x

I'm back! On the first day at Porlock, I was put through the dreaded ( for me anyway). The walk. Of course, it just happened to be a really sunny day - the first of many- so I may have gotten a little burnt despite the really thick layer of suncream I smothered myself in in the morning.
But, there are upsides of this weather of course such as mint ice creams across the sea front! I always feel terribly scruffy when I'm walking because obviously I don't have my best fashion foot forward.
AKA. I know that I look a mess in these photos; they're not flattery at all, in fact I'd go as far as to say that I look a little pregnant in these photos. Which I'm quite obviously not.

So to take a break from the sun we walked to a little Church - of which the names escaped me- and had our lunch in a graveyard.

For some reason I find myself strangely drawn to graveyards, even if it is a little creepy. There's something about the eerie scenery that makes them beautiful.

And the best part of my day?
My tan was well on it's way. Little did I know at this point that my tan really was never on it's way.

Going away

I know that I haven't blogged much recently and it's mainly due to the fact that I have nothing to write about! My life is pretty straight forward and boring at the moment! Especially seen as it feels as though I haven't seen some of my friends in way too long! But, I'm going on holiday on Saturday, so hopefully I'll have loads to tell you! So just in case you thought I'd completely abandoned blogging for two weeks! I haven't, I'm just having a break from the same scenes! xoxo

The results...

Okay, so I got a little carried away! I also made some Viennese Fingers minus the chocolate dip at the moment! But check out my icing skills! I've actually spent the whole day in the kitchen!

Keep Baking xoxo

Spending time wisely

I've admitted it before: I've been a little bored as of recently. There's only so much spare time that you can appreciate before it gets a little boring! So today I decided to use my time wisely in a way that would benefit others! So, I set about baking some chocolate buns this morning, and I'm writing as I am waiting for them to cool down (then my wicked icing skills will be put to use!) and I realised I had a problem earlier on! I'd followed the Bero recipe and I had a big bowl of bun mixture. Obviously, I spread it out equally and then set about eating the remainder. It wasn't till I realised it was half way up my face and arms that I decided that this really was a problem! But hey... my buns looks gorgeous!!! xoxo

What makes you smile?

Sometimes, a girl needs a little help from the world to make her smile beam through towns and cities. As if some towns weren't enough, we need a little extra. A little oomph to make our days worth while and to put our mind at rest. And sometimes, we just cannot get there by ourselves. So we rely on the world. We rely on mother nature and we rely on our always there for us girls. On lucky days, we find happiness in the weather : most of the time this would be a lot of sunshine looking over us as we set about in our summer dresses. A lot of the time for me, it's the smell of fresh rain on the floor and having to layer my dress and tights with socks, cardigans and coats... plus a whole load of woolly goods. And when the weather doesn't go our way and we find a plain windy area? We get an unexpected text or facebook message, reply yes as soon as possible and hop over to their house. Because sometimes a girl needs help smiling. Other times she just needs a good cuppa and a blanket to snuggle down into. xoxo

Flicking through the photos.

Sometimes, when you have no want to go outside and you have nothing to do in the house but paint your nails for the fifth time a dust of your stilettos for tomorrows leaving do, you find yourself flicking through your life. You pull out your Great great grandma's shoe boxes of photos that have been passed down through the generations and you start with young innocence in the form of baby you! My parents are constantly telling me that I used to be the happiest girl in the world, and it really does reflect in the photos! And as the photos get into 13/ 14 year old mode, the smile drops and the 'one eye syndrom' appears! More recently, we're looking on our laptops, and our facebook pages at prom photos and leavers photos. It seems like these past five years of my life have flown by so quickly and everyone has developed and changed into amazing people who are ready to become the next generation of people to conquer the ups and downs of life! Someone once told me that if you can survive High School and come out still wearing a smile and with confidence then you can get where ever you want to in life; you just have to be prepared to put a little effort in!
So to everyone who has left school in the year of 2012 I wish you the best of luck with your lives x I know you can make, if you just believe! xoxo

Tonight we are young.

The song that pretty much will remind me of my prom forever now, is by Fun. And that, we did have! It all started with an overly excited Poppy getting ready, which then developed into an overly early outfit all ready to go! We went on a London Rootmaster, which was perfect as I was with all of my friends and the bus had a We Will Rock You advert on it...perfect!

It was held at the West Retford Hotel. It really was a perfect evening with a lot of socialising, tonnes of dancing and a bucket full of giggles!

And the best part? After five years of being at the same school together, everyone could finally be themselves and not care if they were being judged or scrutinised!

After all... for that one night we were young! Keep Dreaming xoxo

Short and sweet.

I literally have one sentence to say...
It is prom tomorrow (yes it is finally here)!
Keep Dreaming xoxo

Wipe away the day.

Every now and then, we have a bad day. A bad week. Maybe even a bad year. We all have our little solutions to get us out of our slumps. Some eat ice cream, some try and sleep on it and some just watch their favourite TV show. But, we all know that none of these things help; if anything they just trigger the emotions to come flooding in : the sadness, the guilt and the worries. Sometimes, life will deal you a bad card, but you can never forget to smile. One of my favourite sayings is:
'Sometimes, despite your best efforts otherwise, life will give you lemons. When that happens, you've got two choices, friend: you can wear a sour face or make lemonade.'
I heard it from one of the saddest films I have ever watched, Love Happens. But it's so true! Life is always going to throw you problems in the road or even huge speed bumps, and you can let these things happens and act like it's the worse thing that has ever happened to you or you can wipe away the day and smile! Life's tricky, but with a little bit of hard work you can be back to your normal self. After all, a bad year doesn't have to a bad year if you make your decisions well. xoxo

Patricia Field

There are few words that can be used to describe Patricia Field. In my eyes, and many others alike, she is pure genius; a woman that digs deeper into fashion then any woman has ever been before! I've mentioned Field before, in one of my earlier blogs- It's in the way she moves, talking about her view on material and movement. She said that material was always there to do a job and that job was to flow in a certain way or to make you look like a million dollars! I admire Patricia Field's work a million times over. For those who aren't familiar with her work, Field owns a shop, but also styles for films from The Devil Wears Prada to Sex and the City (not to mention the countless episodes)! I envy Sarah Jessica Parker in the gorgeous dresses and heals...the elaborate couture piece she wore in Paris is a favourite! I even love the green satin skirt with the ruffles at the back! One day I shall be in those gorgeous clothes... well a girl can dream! xoxo
