Bye bye blogging!
My blogging seems to have gone out of the window this week and all I can do is apologise! The beginning of the week was sooo good and then I've had two full days of exams -literally- and I've just needed my time to get home and relax. Which includes reading Alphabet Weekends (I'm on H) and watching tonnes of Sex and the City episodes!!! So I guess I'm just posting to say that I so have not given up on blogging (despite the slightly critical name of this post) I'm just 'busy'. To normal people 'busy' would not be how they'd describe my week, but hey I'm young! I've also been listening to a lot of Kate Rusby recently to chill out to! I luuurrrvvve her voice! And my Dad seems to like me listening to her as he feels that he's influenced me in some way, which I'm not about to deny! So anyway, hope you have had a much better week then my and that you all have a relaxing weekend and you don't get out of bed till at least 10! It's just the weekend rule! xoxo

Spring gloves.
Is it me, or is there something overly romantic about long gloves? Especially in Spring. I'm desperately wanting to makeover my wardrobe, but know that that would never be the smartest solution at the moment because Im saving AND I need to find the perfect clutch bag...for prom. I have this idea of a lovely black egg bag, but isn't the idea of a black egg a little depressing? I guess that's why no highstreet store seems to have produced one! So, I guess I'll have to hit the vintage shops instead, or just have a flick through asos marketplace- I swear who ever invented that idea was pure genius! And whilst Im at it, who knows, I might find the perfect long lace gloves! I could be a Hepburn for the day. I'm smiling as I write this...my head will constantly be stuck in the clouds! xoxo

Moderately lazy Sunday
It suddenly dawned on me that I take my 'lazy Sunday' much too literally! When did it become unacceptable to go around the house in a slouchy jumper with a bare face and not much going on with your hair? Did we ever consider the circumstances? Or am I just too busy not caring about life? And if that's the case....am I too laid back? Say a cute guy turned up at my door, am I missing a huge opportunity just because I simply couldn't be bothered to apply my makeup or is it that expectations are just too high? We all know that in Britain, you get what you get. Yet, we still strive for those Indian Summer days. And I've never met anyone who has no expectations when it comes to guys. I know that I myself have 'a list'. So then, why don't we apply this back into our lives? Is it really asking too much to put a little slap on our ageing faces just because there are expectations? Because to me, that seems reasonable. Maybe I shall have to change my 'lazy Sunday' to a moderately lazy Sunday.

Serial nights in
At my age, a girl has little to turn to when she’s stressed
to the max. Consequently, we turn to our single girlfriends to spend hours
cheering us up and as of recently, I seem to spending a lot of time at my
friend’s house just having a good old gossip. But, I ask, in this day and age,
why is it that we only have our girl friends to turn to? Women have spent years
fighting for our rights as women and still we’re degraded in this society for being
a weaker figure of human. And yet all of our icons are women that have battled
through this constant depreciation. So, does this mean that we have to face the
degrading in the eye? And if we do choose this path, does it mean that we have
a lifetime of conflict? As a typical girl, I wouldn’t shy away from conflict if
I strongly believed in this, but when you have your own little world on your
shoulders, can’t we just cry to our friends? Remember, we always have each
other.
P.S If you think you can, you can.

Music I'm lovin'
Regularly, I share with you a peak into my wardrobe and allow you to see the fashion side of my wardrobe, but very rarely do I share my musical sense with anyone. Like anyone else, I'm constantly plugged into my iPod and repeatedly bump into people because of it...! And I am definitely an example of changing style in my music, as I used to be obsessed with pop! Literally, I owned all the Pop party Cd's and loved singing along to 'dancing in the moonlight'. But, about two years ago I became more interested in rock and alternative music, which brought me round to listening to the Killers and the Arctic Monkeys. Now, I still listen to a lot of alternative music and even dip my toes into a little folk now and then (I seriously love the country sound!) So anyway...here are my top ten songs at the moment- in no particular order and not necessarily new- hope you love then!

That old shirt.
Finally I have managed to take more outfit photos- yay! I love blogging and cannot resist taking outfit photos whenever I can, but always feel bad for asking my friends to take countless pictures of me, so firstly I must say thank you to all my friends I have ever put through the role of Poppy's photographer!
Shirt: New look, Dress: West One, Bag and Shoes: asos. |
It surprises me that I'm actually sticking to one of my resolutions of wearing old clothes with different things, mainly so that I can save my money for a new laptop so I don't have to borrow my family's laptops all the time! I love this dress and have had it for a fair few years now, but got bored of wearing it normally so I thought I'd add this shirt to it and voila I love it!
I'm trying to grow my fringe out at the moment for my school's prom, but it's being a little stubborn and I'm finding it impossible to do anything with! It's too long to be a side fringe and it doesn't like staying in plaits either. Today I just curled my hair and put a few grips in to keep my fringe back. Has anyone got any tips on growing out a fringe?
I went shopping today with Amie and bought some new shades of nail varnish, the purple being my favourite! I also tried a gorgeous dress on, but resisted as I'm trying to save up...a phrase that I hate! I hope that you are enjoying your holidays! xoxo

Floral Heaven
I know that I posted a while ago about how Spring was here and that I couldn't wait! I know, I was too early. But now Spring has sprung and I literally cannot contain my excitement! Autumn has nothing to fear however, as it's still my favourite month, but Spring is when the tree's blossom. There's a street near where I live with the most glorious cherry blossom trees. It makes me smile everytime I walk down there, even if it only lasts for a few weeks. Anyway, it kind of inspires me to wear florals myself. If cherry blossom trees can make me happy, then just imagine what an actual floral dress can do! On more than one occassion, I've been rather down about the lack of floral items in my wardrobe. Ideally at this point I'd love to put some fresh photos out there, but unfortunately I have no knew floral clothes. I literally have two floral dresses and that's about it! I have no excuse for not posting a lot of outfit shots recently, as I'm on holiday, but I have no tripod for my camera and when I've been to see my friends we've been catching up and so I'd just feel awful asking them to take photos of me...maybe I will tommorrow!!! Sssshh! So, anyway instead, I thought I'd share with you some older floral photos, even if you've seen some before! Sorry, I shall get back on track soon! I don't think I can bare to dig out photos of two years ago for much longer! xoxo

Farm life....
Before I left for my holiday, I remember thinking that I had
to get out of my home town. Yes, I’ve grown up there, and evidently learn to
love it, but when that town has memories on every corner- and you’re not in the
most positive of moods- you feel the urge to escape. So my holiday came at just
the right time. I went to a little place named Rosedale ,
where we stayed on a farm. We visit just about every year and it’s become a
great escape for me. Even the air is fresher. It’s also an opportunity to show
my ‘fall back’ style at it’s greatest, simply because dresses and ankle boots
are the norm in the country (which unfortunately takes ‘the quirk’ out of my
outfits) so I feel like I fit in like any other villager. Although, I quite obviously didn't!
I had an amazing holiday and the highlight, for me, was definietely getting to see two lambs being born! They were so -dares't I use this word?- cute and strangely enough real! It's great being out in the countryside because you're surrounded by all these animals you wouldn't normally be with....we had a pony practically in the front garden! I tried to take as many photos as I could whilst on holiday, but I obviously didn't have my friends on holiday with me to take any outfit shots, so they're mainly just me trying to be artistic and failing epicly!
As you can see, whilst I was on holiday it snowed (and I packed for sun) but I'm always happy to accept the snow! And the snow caused all the powerlines to break and so I went without electricity for three days! Which also made me decide that I need more candles in the house, not as a 'just in case' but because they look so pretty! I hope that you are all having an amazing Easter holiday... I certainly am, and I'm off later to catch up with my friends and watch 'mirror mirror'. Happy Good Friday! xoxo
