As a Gilmore girls fan, I’m a believer that friends will
always be there for you, through thick and thin, and if they’re not? Are they
really true friends? As a pretty average seventeen year old, I’ve had my fair
share of friends. Some that I’ve lost (and tears followed; others not), some
that faded away, and some that stay very close to my heart. I truly believe
that friendships shape the person you are, but that doesn’t always mean that
the relationship you have with your friends is an easy one. Sometimes TV
programmes and books set us up to believe that it’s the relationship we have
with possible love interests that are the hardest, I disagree. In a sense,
there will always be someone in your life who is that guy but there aren’t necessarily always friends in your life
which is why you have to keep your friends close. It’s easy to compare your
friendship group with those of your idols, but it’s really about who each
individual is, and even deeper, who you are when you mould together. God knows
that I and my friends have been through our ups and downs… I’ve had friends
that I haven’t spoken to for a year and then the next minute it’s all in the
past, and friends that have made me cry with happiness and then there are those
times where that guy lets you down
and you need them for some serious advice. I
guess what I’m trying to say is that some friends will come and go but
you’re true friends are just a phone call away and at the end of the day, it
isn’t a case of will they be there for you, but a case of will you be there for
them?
